Whew! It’s finally over. The 82nd Academy Awards ended with a bang on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Although the nearly four-hour show was mediocre, there definitely were upsets, surprises, and heartfelt speeches.
Then, there were the fabulous and vibrant colored fashions worn by thewomen on the Red Carpet. No Red Carpet event would be complete without the good, the bad, and the ugly gowns of the night.
Some of Oscars' Best Dressed fashions were worn by and in no particular order: Queen Latifah, Elizabeth Banks, Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, Gabourey Sidibe, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, Tina Fey, Anna Kendrick, Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Lopez.

Some of Oscars' Worst Dressed fashions were worn by and in no particular order: Sarah Jessica Parker, Charlize Theron, Claudia Llosa, Miley Cyrus, Anika Noni Rose, Diane Kruger, Vera Farmiga, Zoe Saldana, and Suzy Amis.

Moreover, it is clear that this year’s Oscars will be remembered as the year that women made Oscar history. It’s also perfect that we celebrate March as Women’s History Month.
Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman ever to win an Oscar for Best Director: The Hurt Locker. Later, she took home another Oscar for Best Picture: The Hurt Locker. This was an upset because Avatar by James Cameron was expected to win.

Mo’Nique’s Oscar win for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire” was reminiscent of Hattie McDaniel who was the first black performer to win an Academy Award for her 1939 supporting role in “Gone With the Wind.” Mo’Nique was poised onstage dressed in a blue Tadashi gown with her hair neatly pulled back into a bun accented with a white flower, which paid homage to McDaniel, whom she acknowledged in her speech.

Sandra Bullock is certainly on a roll. In the same weekend that she won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading role for The Blind Side, she also captured a Razzie Award for the worst actress performance in All About Steve. Bullock became the first actress to win both awards in the same year.
