Trends that will make your season bright

It is that time of year again where holiday parties, dinners, and New Years plans are consuming your social life.

Being the socialite that you are you won't be caught dead in the same look twice. However we are in a recession and that Christmas bonus will be spent on holiday gift giving and New Years bottle popping. Here are a few tips that will help you organize your holiday looks without missing a drummer boy's beat.

Bling:  This is the only time of year where more is more. The shinier the better, after all, you have holiday decor to compete with and the mistletoe only has standing room for two.  Sequin leggings, blazers, beaded tops, cocktail dresses and peak-a-boo lingerie can shamelessly shine through. To avoid dishing out more money for a new holiday wardrobe spruce up that LBD (little black dress) with this season's bold jewels, bangles, and sequin accessories.

Shoes:  It is all about a stunning shoe.  A hot shoe can instantly take any old dress from drab to fab.  If you are stuntin’ on a stipend get creative and take those plain pumps you barely wear and apply feathers, a broach, or a gem clip to the front of the shoe for a high fashion touch.

The It-Dress:  Tis’ the season to be bright, don’t be afraid to rival the Christmas tree with an emerald or scarlet dress, you will definitely stand out amongst the crowd.  Flattering silhouettes like the tulip hem or the high neck will give you a modest yet stunning look.  If you do not have money to splurge on a new dress.  Add a beautiful collar necklace to any simple silhouette for an instant over-this-dress overhaul.

Lips:  Bold lips and sultry eyes are the keys to seducing that co-worker you have been crushing on all month.  Mark your territory with cherry, berry, or fire red lips.

Holiday Gifts:  Be creative, you have co-workers, girlfriends and family to think about.  If your co-worker downs 'frappuccion’s' daily, a gift card to their favorite coffee shop is a frugal and thoughtful gift idea.  Trader Joe’s makes the tastiest, thriftiest wine, stack up on a case for small gift giving at holiday parties, and eliminate the stress of finding personalized gifts.

However you decide to celebrate this holiday season, remember to be bright, be fabulous, and be giving.

Happy Holidays!
