Last Thursday marked the beginning of New York’s Fashion week (NYFW), the holiest of holidays for American Fashionistas.
Fashion’s Night Out, was the city wide launch part sponsored by Vogue, which set the tone for a
(NYFW) unlike any other. If there were a theme, this year’s would definitely be “For the People, By the People.” Fashion insiders, and outsiders alike were able to experience the magic of mingling with models, celebrities, and the most important designers of our time. On my dossier was Tory Burch, who held a high fashion fiesta complete with unlimited coronas, white wine, and, spicy corn on the cob, all set to the one’s and two’s of DJ Cassidy. Next was DVF’s meatpacking boutique, which was the definition of madness, as countless print hungry fashionistas sifted through the racks. Versace did not disappoint, both; songstress Ciara and model of the moment, Chanel Iman, wowed the crowd with their stunning beauty and personalities. Prada was where sidewalk met catwalk, as Grace Coddington of Vogue, and star of “The September Issue,” ‘graced’ us with her presence. After Prada it was off to the BMI Awards after party at M2, where Janelle Monae in her signature menswear, and Kate Perry in a dress by H&M all partied with the over capacity crowd. I played paparazzi with Rihanna, who remained incognito in a hooded “Run This Town” part deux number. While Mario serenaded the half past tipsy ladies, gushing his presence. NYFW ends on Thursday and 2009 will mark the last showings at Bryant Park. However, I will be reporting on which collections made it work, and which ones did not make the cut. Happy Holidays fellow fashionistas!
